NOTICE: If the upgrade service is not for you then we still have our standard repair service available that includes a high quality replacement ribbon with carbon trace contacts and a one year warranty. (scroll down the page to select this repair)
Included in this repair service is a heavy duty replacement LCD and ribbon assembly that are manufactured as a one piece design with gold metal ribbon contacts for longer life and better conductivity.
Original factory LCD ribbons have heat bonded ribbons with conductive traces that fail prematurely and in some cases can deteriorate the LCD itself making it non-repairable especially true if you live in a climate that has very hot summers which cause the interior temperatures of your vehicle to be excessively high.
Reasons to consider the upgrade service:
1) 5 year warranty on repair service
2) You plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time
3) You live in a climate with very hot summers
* We also have new replacement lenses for sale if yours is cracked or broken
Due to the fragile nature of the lens and housing we recommend using a box that is at least 22" in length to allow room for bubble wrap on each end of the cluster.
To save on shipping costs and to prevent possible damage during shipment from the additional weight, it is highly recommended that you remove the large display unit located in the center of the cluster which can be easily done by removing the back cover (which is held in by two screws) and sliding it out. You can re-install the back cover once it has been removed.
Note: If the key is left on or the vehicle is driven without the cluster plugged in, you will have a flashing air bag light once the cluster is re-installed. We can email you the reset procedure to get it turned back off. Check engine lights that have also come on can be cleared out at your local shop or some parts stores that offer scan service.
